Re: Have you ever met a posh bloke.....
Years ago I knew someone called Cardew who was proper posh but chose to live with "real" people in Hoxton and worked as a van driver.

I always thought Nigel was a posh name but I've known loads over the years and all common as muck and most of them nasty bleeders too.

What's in a name?

Tommy Robinson as stoutly English as an Oak tree however
Stephen Yaxley - Lennon does sound either posh or even like he could be a brother, they love the old double barreled names and

Is Digby posh?

I would name a son that (if my wife had no say in the matter) for three reasons or rather people.

The middle brother in Beau Geste
Kenelm Digby (look him up - adventurer, scientist, diplomat, cookery book writer)
Major Allison Digby Tatham-Warter (inspiration for the umbrella-wielding officer in a Bridge Too Far, though he actually lived and has an interesting escape story through Holland)

I'm guessing Sir Ranulph Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes may be slightly posh.

I am actually very distantly related to him - he is the cousin of my mum's cousin's husband. My mum's branch of the family weren't as posh as her cousins, but there was certainly some money around. The stupid bastards gave it all to the church. My dad was proper working class from Hounslow so we're the poor relations.

My ex brother in law was an Earl of something, he was OK apart from not liking football.
He pissed his entire family off by becoming a lorry driver for tesco until his inheritance came through.

He was a James.

Re: Have you ever met a posh bloke.....
Can we define posh please

Best definition of class I ever heard revolves around your choice of television.

If you have a huge, surround sound flatscreen that's far too big for the room it's in, with Sky or some other massive channel package, then you are working class.

If you have a appropriately sized TV with few peripherals then you are middle class.

If you have either no TV or an ancient set that you probably inherited, then you are upper class (or posh).

Works for me..
